The Guys’ Group

The Guys’ Group

Led by a Speech-Language Pathologist and Communicative Disorders Assistant, we run a weekly communication group for young men who have sustained an acquired brain injury. Each group runs for 12 weeks and begins by setting individualized and measurable goals (SMART goals) for each member.

Past members have developed the following individualized goals:

  • To generate more topics for conversations
  • To be less boastful
  • To be able to accept constructive feedback from others
  • To feel more comfortable communicating in a group

Goals are targeted in both fun and functional ways within the community. Locations change every week and are never held in a clinic!

Past activities have included:

  • Bowling
  • Hiking
  • Billiards
  • Rock climbing
  • Mini putt
  • Board games
  • Show shoeing
  • Meetings with an ABI survivor/mentor
  • CN tower
  • Ripley’s aquarium
  • Blue Jays game
  • Scenic Caves
  • and many more!
